Minister complains about press intrusion in peoples lives
26
Letter to editor re
Ms Harney comments re her privacy and” intrusion of media is grossly unfair”….

We accept that everyone is entitled to privacy.

Yet today nearly three hundred sick people lie on trolleys and chair in our A&E departments across the country unable to get the bed they so desperately need. Their dignity and privacy denied. Only the other night an elderly patient went from a trolley to the toilet only to discover on return the trolley had been taken for another patient and now he must lie on the filthy ground on a mattress.

When the sick people of this country must urinate and have bowel movements in steel pans lying packed together like cattle in a slaughter truck, men and women squashed in a cram of embarrassment, their only protection a gaping curtain.

When Patients sit in chairs for days while doctors and nurse struggle to examine them, they are left with no options for the protection of their patients modesty and where personal information is discussed aloud for all to hear. Who can we complain to, who will listen to our pleas for privacy and dignity. Now minister is there something you would like to add?
